Electrical and lighting projects can look similar from the room but have very different scope behind the wall. Replacing a fixture in an existing location is not the same as adding a new location. Mounting a battery camera is different from extending power. Installing a dimmer is different from diagnosing a circuit that keeps failing.
This hub organizes the category around the device or result the homeowner wants, then separates product-level work from wiring, circuit or system work that may require qualified electrical service.

Start With What You Want to Change
A same-location replacement can use an existing box, power source or control point when those conditions are suitable. A new location can involve new wiring, support or circuit questions and should not be presented as the same project.
Product Installation, Wiring and Location Requirements
Some products are primarily mounted and paired, while others connect directly to building wiring. Battery cameras, plug-in smart devices and some low-voltage products can stay closer to product installation. Hardwired fixtures, outlets, fans and controls may require qualified electrical work depending on the actual condition. Outdoor devices add weather exposure, mounting-surface and power-condition questions. A product rated and intended for one environment should not be treated as interchangeable with another.
Electrical & Lighting Questions
What if I do not know which page fits?
Start with the device or symptom. If the issue is broader than one product, use General Electrical Services.
Can new wiring be part of a project?
It may require qualified electrical work and should be scoped separately from simple device installation.
