Assembly & Installation

Play Kitchen Assembly in Champaign, IL

On this page

A play kitchen is furniture, not real kitchen cabinetry. It can still have many cabinet-style panels, doors, shelves and small accessories that need to be assembled in the correct order.

Cabinet-Style Panels, Doors & Shelves

The main box should be square before doors or pretend-appliance panels are adjusted.

  • Side/top/base panels.
  • Shelves.
  • Doors and hinges.
  • Pretend appliance fronts.
  • Handles and knobs.
  • Accessory pieces.
  • Manufacturer restraint hardware where supplied.

Accessories, Restraints and Product Completeness

Small decorative pieces can be easy to mix up. Keeping hardware grouped by step makes the final product easier to align. If the product includes wall restraint, installation depends on the wall condition and the supplied system. A cracked panel or missing safety-related component should not be improvised around. Play kitchens often include many decorative pieces, but the cabinet body, shelves and doors should be aligned before handles, faucets or pretend food accessories are treated as final. A small missing accessory does not affect assembly the same way a missing hinge, panel connector or restraint component can.

If the product includes a wall-restraint kit, that should be handled after final placement. Moving the play kitchen after restraint hardware is installed can damage both the product and the wall.

  • Cabinet body stands square.
  • Doors and shelves operate normally.
  • Major structural hardware is complete.
  • Accessories are installed after structure is stable.
  • Final placement is confirmed.
  • Manufacturer restraint handled only in final position.

Some play kitchens include lightweight shelves or doors that are intended only for the toy's own accessories. Assembly should not imply load capacity beyond the product design or convert decorative components into storage for heavier household items. The finished unit should also be checked from the caregiver's normal perspective: doors should close, lightweight shelves should sit correctly and loose decorative pieces should not be mistaken for structural hardware during assembly.
