Interior trim includes door and window casing and other finish profiles. Baseboards, crown molding and wainscoting have separate service options.
Door & Window Casing
Casing frames the transition between wall and opening. New casing should meet the jamb, wall and adjacent trim without obvious gaps or profile conflicts.

Matching Trim Profiles and Finishing the Joints
A small repair can be challenging when an older profile is no longer common. The practical question is whether a close match is available or a larger run should be replaced. Corners, returns and places where two trim types meet should look deliberate. Removing damaged casing can reveal gaps, wall damage or jamb conditions that were hidden behind the trim. The replacement should not simply cover an active problem without understanding whether it affects the finish work.
Returns and transitions deserve attention where casing meets baseboard, stool/apron or other trim. A clean repair often depends on choosing the right endpoint rather than replacing only the visibly chipped inch of molding.
- Trim profile and width.
- Condition of wall/jamb behind trim.
- Joint with baseboard or other molding.
- Paint/stain match.
- Repair endpoint.
- Whether opening itself needs door/window work.
Where several openings share one room, casing proportions should be considered together. Replacing one opening with a visibly different width or profile can stand out more than a small color variation. Where casing meets a stool, apron or sill, the replacement should account for those connected pieces. A repair can spread beyond the visibly damaged casing if the joint itself has failed. A trim repair should also consider nearby wall paint or stain because removing old casing can expose a visible finish line. The carpentry and the touch-up area may be different sizes.
Use the site chat with the trim location, profile if known and whether matching existing material is required.
